"Feed the Animals" by the indie mash-up artist Girl Talk is putting doubts on the pay what you want strategy, originally tried by Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails. You can download the album at the link here. I haven't listened to it all yet, but so far the sound in truly incredible, with 300+ samples on 14 songs. The actual sales for the album haven't been revealed yet but the artist and his label "Illegal Art" are admitting that thousands of copies of the album have been downloaded for free. The most interesting part of this experiment will be if an indie artist can be successful using the pay what you want model.
